Dateline 5-24-06

Since April 25, 2006 Hare Krishna devotees have fought the demolition of their daccas in Kazakhstan CIS.

It appears that the Hakim or governor has stated that the property that the religious movement has bought and purchased is registered for private use and therefore under the control of the state.

The devotees formed a human barricade to prevent the demolition of their homes. Since this time various protests have occurred n different locations throughout the world mainly at embassies.

The devotees have requested that concerned persons contact Amnesty International or their national legislators with a focus on pressuring the government to reconsider their claims.
